Haikyuu Season 3 Review: 'Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa'

Haikyuu Season 3's focus was on the Spring Tournament finals. Haikyuu Season 3 has 10 episodes. Short but exhilarating! The final was between Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa. Season 3 aired from October to December 2016.

It was an interesting match between Shiratorizawa, the powerhouse team vs Karasuno, the newly emerged deadly team. But only one team can win. The winner would represent Miyagi prefecture in the Nationals. Will Karasuno Win? Or will Shiratorizawa continue to reign? So who do you support?

Our favorite Kageyama and Hinata are back! Shiratorizawa Academy is one of the top 8 teams in Japan. They are the favorite contenders for the Nationals. In the Inter-High Prelims, Shiratorizawa beat Aobajohsai and enter the Nationals. Ushijima Wakatoshi, Shiratorizawa’s ace ranked among the country’s top three aces.

The Spring Finals was a power-packed match between the two teams. Haikyuu Season 3 was shorter, but the entertainment was to the highest level of satisfaction.

Haikyuu Season 3 starts off with both team introductions. Karasuno and Shiratorizawa’s line-up is introduced to the audience. The match starts with Ushijima scoring for Shiratorizawa. Ushijima is a left-handed spiker, which resulted in Nishinoya’s trouble. Nishinoya (Karasuno’s libero) has only played against right-handed players. So he had trouble adjusting, but he did not get discouraged.

The 5th/ Final set

By the start of set 5, both teams suffer from fatigue. It’s a race against time and stamina now. Kageyama gets exhausted. Sugawara replaces Kageyama as the setter. Sugawara does a wonderful job. He proves why he’s worth the money. Tsukishima played exceptionally well and continued to block.

During the match, Tsukishima gets wounded and is sent to the infirmary. That was a panic moment honestly. Because Karasuno was starting to gain momentum. The sudden exit of Tsukishima was quite risky.

Kageyama joins back again and catches up immediately and gains advance. But this didn’t last long as Shiratorizawa catches up soon after. Both teams were 14-14 making it to the deuce point. But Guess who’s BACK!!!!!!!!

Tsukishima is back and ready to roll !!!! With him back, Karasuno’s defense gets even stronger. Nishinoya did an amazing save getting the point for his team.

Match MVP

It was a bit hard to pick an MVP. Hinata leads the team to victory. It was a combined effort from everyone. Both the teams had ace players and everyone contributed to it. But undoubtedly, for the Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa match, Tsukihsima is the MVP. In this match, Tsukishima really shines. And we see his growth as a player.
